Ball State Football Adds Cincy Bearcat Transfer to Roster

BSULogoYou know it’s Fall Camp time when news starts pouring out of the Nest in fast and furious fashion. The last 18 hours or so have been no exception, as the awesome video we posted about Nick Pavlak landing a scholarship was distributed, and now another juicy nugget of information is released in the form of former Cincinnati Bearcat Joshua Posley. Posley is a former Warren Central three-star recruit who is a proven winner and should fit in nicely in the Cards system. And, stockpiling defensive ends certainly isn’t a bad thing. The BSU release…

Ball State fourth-year head football coach Pete Lembo has announced the addition of Joshua Posley to the Cardinals’ football program.

Posley, who played the last two seasons at the University of Cincinnati, has transferred to Ball State and will redshirt in 2014 and have two years of eligibility left with the Cardinals.

“We are pleased to welcome Joshua to the football program and the University community,” Lembo said. “We have known him since his high school days at Warren Central and have built a strong relationship with the coaching staff there. Joshua is an outgoing guy and a strong student. He should fit in well and will also benefit from having former high school teammates Darnell Smith and Anthony Winbush in our program already. We hope he transitions well to a new environment this fall and is ready to compete for playing time once spring practice arrives.”

A 2012 graduate of Warren Central High School, Posley played defensive end for the Bearcats. He enrolled in school at UC in January of 2012 and began play that spring. A three-star recruit out of high school by 247Sports.com, ESPN.com, Rivals.com and Scout.com., Posley was an All-Marion County First-Team selection as a senior. He tallied 67 tackles, including 38 solos stops, 2.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a pass breakup as a senior. Posley helped Warren Central to an 11-1 overall record and a national ranking as high as seventh as a senior in the 2011 season. A two-time all-state and all-conference selection, Posley helped Warren Central to a 45-5 mark in his career, including a state championship in 2010.

The son of Dlyde and Adrienne Posley, he plans on majoring in business administration at Ball State.

Not for nothing, but it’s nice to be able to continue to build a Warren Central pipeline. I’d say they are arguably one of the premier football programs in the Indy metro area and maybe over the entire state. Welcome to the Cardinal family, Joshua!

  1. This definitely sounds like a fantastic add. WC, Ben Davis, Carmel, and Center Grove are probably the four best Indy HS football teams followed closely by the South Bend area school Penn. Snider and Bishop Dwenger from Ft. Wayne are also perennial power schools too to grab recruits from as well.
