Stan took part in today’s MAC Conference Call with nothing earth shaking, but sounding more down than normal. I guess opening 0-2 will do that to you. Questions to Coach Parrish today were few and far between, but they focused predominantly on the atmosphere of the team, Saturday’s failure, and the upcoming game at Army.
On the team’s current mood:
- “This is a very young team. They are younger than I thought they’d be right now.”
- “Part of our problem is we have so few seniors and we lost TE Madaris Grant. We’re trying to rally confidence from very young guys. And that’s tough. We had 6 freshman on the field at one point offensively on Saturday.”
- “We have to make the week 1 to week 2 jump in offense that we didn’t make last week, this week.”
On New Hampshire:
- “It’s obviously very disappointing. It was the worst game offensively in my 5 years here.”
- “We didn’t protect the ball well, we didn’t throw the ball well, we didn’t run the ball well. I thought the defense played great. And the kicking game was very good.”
On Army:
- “Army is a wonderful challenge and a wonderful place to play. Going on the road there’s no distractions, no naysayers, and our group hasa great attitude.”
- “Army dominated EMU. They run sort of that Arizona Desert Swarm defense. Offensively, with their option, you have to minimize mistakes. We plan on playing more kids than we did last week.”
- “Army very easily could be 2-0. They are an option team you have to make throw and take advantage of any mistakes. Duke scored 17 points off turnovers.”
Perhaps the most telling quote from Coach Parrish and one that certainly sets the tone for the Army showdown this weekend. When asked whether or not this game is being looked at as sort of a turning point Stan stated, “No question. We’re banking on that. We played with a lot of energy last week, we just played so poorly offensively we didn’t give the team a chance to win.”

Yes, since our head coach was asst head coach and defensive line coach for Arizona’s Desert Swarm, you I guess you could say that we “sort of” run it.
Or you could say that we do run it.
