BSU Has a Finalized Schedule for 2011

As other conferences and teams have finalized their schedules for the coming year, we had been waiting on the MAC to announce the conference schedule, thus finalizing the 2011 schedule for the Cardinals. Today, we have to wait no longer as the MAC announced their conference games and BSU’s schedule is complete. The details:

Sat. Sept. 3 INDIANA at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Sat. Sept. 10 at South Florida
Sat. Sept. 17 BUFFALO *
Sat. Sept. 24 ARMY (Family Weekend)
Sat. Oct. 1 at Oklahoma
Sat. Oct. 8 TEMPLE (Homecoming)
Sat. Oct. 15 at Ohio *
Sat. Oct. 22 CENTRAL MICHIGAN *
Sat. Oct. 29 at Western Michigan *
Sat. Nov. 5 at Eastern Michigan *
Tues. Nov. 15 at Northern Illinois (7:00) * ESPNU
Fri. Nov. 25 TOLEDO * (Senior Day)

Some initial thoughts are that this schedule may be the toughest schedule in a while for the Cardinals. Another positive is most of our divisional games are backloaded. Barring any injuries or the like, that creates maybe the best possible situation for this team to get their feet about them in conference play. Perhaps the most positive thing is the midweek games to close the season don’t create any short weeks. Ten days rest before both contests avoids the ridiculously short preparation windows we’ve had in years past. All in all, a tough but manageable schedule. Initial prediction? 7-5, but that’s wildly speculative and totally a shot in the dark. I’ll break down why I feel that way in our upcoming 2011 Know an Opponent series, but for now, I’m feeling good about it.
